My buddy Eric has a nifty title called Barefoot, about a generally screwed-up ex-special forces soldier who picks up a few paranormal gifts after one particularly hazardous mission. She drinks too much and slums around the Chicago netherworld as a PI. It's a good time for all and I recommend you go read it free on his website right now.
I did not do that sweet figure, not one hair of her (or lack of hair). I did a mock background as a trial, just playing around with elements, so I didn't do a full filter thing on the flames to make them look real, nor grab a better moon from Wikipedia. Just a layout test.
Pleased with some of this, not so much with others, but it's hard to say since I know those aren't anything like decent flames run through Photoshop filters. They're just drawings with a couple of tweaks.
Y'know, the more I look at this, the less I like what I did. Way too much Photoshop, the colors are garish and too cotton-candyish for this piece. Oh well. It's a concept, nothing more.
