I’m back on 1-900-HOTDOG’s Dogg Zzone 9000, talking about a bonkers 2005 semi-satire called Liberality for All, in which those dastardly libs win the 2000 election and the unthinkable happens: they fail to prevent 9/11. The capitulating, America-hating betrayers on the left make us weak to our enemies, but also create a fascist state capable of oppressing our true patriots, who are also strong men who stand alone, needing no help from anyone, but also decrying the help we don’t get from the UN, who are bleeding the US dry of its greatness and resources–because again, we are weak, yet we are strong, and lord, this book is confused. Basically, the left would make all the mistakes in this fantasy world that the right made in reality, plus also having weak blood. Sorry to tell you, the closest you’re going to get to an age-inappropriate cartoon adaptation of this comic is the animated edition of the podcast.
But let’s talk about what’s really a betrayal here: Sean Hannity, using a Macbook? In 2005? That bastion of latte-swilling, Prius-driving, effete coastal libs? Real men use Dells! Only Dells, made in Texas! And sometimes HP but only when they’re on their bad track record of employee treatment! And occasionally boycotting Windows entirely because Bill Gates wants to add nanobots to your blood via vaccines, to control you with the mark of the beast! Also nanites are real in this comic, and they’re a great thing! So I don’t know if Liberality for All can really stay aligned with this particular stage of the right’s fear of a One World Government. Again, this book is very confused about which things are good and which are bad from the fantasy world it made up vs. the fantasy world conservatives are convinced exists behind the reality we all just try to navigate.
Thankfully, Brockway and Seanbaby are very funny tour guides through this right-wing Sliders universe. But we haven’t even gotten into how Sean Hannity is the star(!) and also kind of Cable(?) before immediately getting reduced to Cyclops(…) by G. Gordon Liddy(,) who is Wolverine(;) and immediately steals the spotlight(.) You will simply have to listen to understand that none of this can be understood!
And while everyone can listen to the podcast on the usual streams, don’t forget that subscribers get the exclusive bonus content, in which we talk about…dear God, more Liberality for All. No, no, I was promised Tidbits or That Guy From Airwolf! Noooooo!
(Although my ultimate goal is to one day be fun enough to entertain a Dreams of the Witch.)
